Opening: Uk and Mu-deok’s Relationship Deepens
The episode picks up right after their mutual confession. Jang Uk teases Mu-deok for her earlier intense “love to death” declaration versus her current glare, insisting she should act madly in love with him. They solidify their bond with playful promises and mutual protectiveness. Uk reveals that Master Lee has known Mu-deok’s true identity (Naksu) all along, thanks to Gwigu. Mu-deok worries about the dangers once her powers return.
Jinyowon Conflict and Gwigu’s Fate
Lady Jin Ho-gyeong storms Songrim to reclaim Gwigu, clashing with Park Jin and Master Lee over jurisdiction. Gwigu senses sorcery on Cho-yeon (due to the blood worm implanted for her fake Bu-yeon scheme) and attacks. Ho-gyeong kills the dog to protect her daughter. Cho-yeon covers by admitting she used a forbidden Lovers’ Charm sorcery on Dang-gu.
Dang-gu boldly protects Cho-yeon from her mother’s wrath, leading both families to disown the couple for their relationship. Ho-gyeong has higher ambitions (marrying Cho-yeon to the Crown Prince), while Park Jin opposes it. The young lovers run away together and seek shelter with Maidservant Kim.
Naksu’s Sword and Master Lee’s Warning
Master Lee gives Jang Uk Naksu’s sword, with a grave message: If anyone (implying Mu-deok reverting to Naksu) tries to use it, Uk must kill them, or he will die too. This confirms Master Lee knows everything and is protecting the status quo. Uk hands the sword to Mu-deok without hesitation. They reaffirm their bond: when she regains her power, she must first turn the sword on him. If she withdraws it, he’ll make her the promise she wants (deeper commitment). If she kills him, so be it. Uk also vows to find the Ice Stone to prevent her from going wild.
Palace and Conspiracy Developments
Jin Mu reports to the royals that Gwigu was neutralized and spins Songrim’s actions as a threat. The Queen (Shaman Choi) backs him. The Crown Prince remains skeptical but is pressured with talk of the King’s Star being treasonous if tied to Songrim.
Park Jin and Master Lee discuss the Queen’s likely alliance with Jin Mu. They believe they need Jang Gang (Uk’s father) to return, as he knows the truths and Jin Mu’s weaknesses. A scruffy man (Jang Gang) is shown walking purposefully.
Investigations and Side Plots
• So-i as Fake Bu-yeon: So-i prepares to impersonate Jin Bu-yeon. She gets the blood worm and practices acting blind. Woo-tak (Cho-yeon’s father, implied connection to Shaman Choi) is uneasy but proceeds. So-i later spots Mu-deok at Jinyowon and begins piecing things together.
Murder Cover-Up: Seo Yul protects Mu-deok from further murder investigations. So-i and her accomplice continue eliminating witnesses.
• Shaman Search: Jang Uk and the Crown Prince separately investigate Shaman Choi (linked to the Queen). They team up, visit Shaman Bong, and learn about Choi’s past (sorcery, grudge against Jang Gang, faked death in fire). Jang Gang secretly follows them.
Friend Group Moments: Dang-gu, Cho-yeon, Uk, Yul, and Mu-deok share light moments. Yul’s insomnia stems from worrying about Mu-deok/Naksu’s exposure. Flashbacks show young Yul’s moral integrity.
Climax and Ending
So-i is introduced at Jinyowon as the “returned” Bu-yeon. The doors open (actually due to Mu-deok’s nearby presence/original soul connection), convincing Ho-gyeong. So-i spots Mu-deok and realizes the truth.
Uk and the Crown Prince notice they’re being followed. They split up; Uk confronts the follower, revealed to be his father, Jang Gang. The episode ends on this tense reunion.
