Immediate Aftermath of the Assembly (Picking Up from Ep 17)

Chaos erupts after Mu-deok (as Bu-yeon) interacts with the Ice Stone. She and So-i (fake Bu-yeon) disappear along with the stone. A magical barrier forms around Jeongjingak due to the Ice Stone’s energy, trapping everyone inside. Inside the barrier, mages’ powers are weakened or nullified, but soul-shifters are strengthened.

Mu-deok fully regains her powers after a visionary conversation with the real Jin Bu-yeon inside the stone. She is warned that the power is overwhelming and comes at a cost, she can use it but not truly own it. She tests her returned strength (e.g., making tea effortlessly) but keeps it hidden initially.

Inside the Barrier: Alliances, Fights, and Schemes

• So-i’s Moves: So-i allies with the escaped soul-shifter Master Kang (who drains energy from others). She tries to use him to eliminate Mu-deok by sending her on an errand, but Seo Yul intervenes and takes the task instead.

• Yul’s Fight: Master Kang attacks Seo Yul. Lady Heo (Yun-ok’s mother) helps, but Yul is severely injured. This reveals the barrier’s effects clearly.

• Mu-deok’s Heroics: Learning Uk is in danger (trapping himself with Master Kang in a secret room), Mu-deok unleashes her full Naksu power. She easily defeats and kills Master Kang, saving everyone. Blood and chaos mark the scene.

Jang Uk confronts Mu-deok about hiding her regained powers. She draws her sword on him (as per their earlier promise). He asks what she will do now. She withdraws it, leading to an emotional kiss that ends the episode.

Key Conversations & Emotional Beats

• Uk & Mu-deok: Uk senses they are inside the Ice Stone’s influence. He reassures her he’ll take responsibility if she runs off with the power and begs her not to abandon him (“I will cry a river”). This flusters her into near-confession territory.

• Crown Prince: He shows subtle affection toward Mu-deok. She gifts him a honey biscuit as thanks/gratitude, acknowledging (silently) that her heart belongs elsewhere.

• Yul & So-i: Yul brings So-i a honey biscuit and protects her. She warns him not to tell Jin Mu they’ve met before. The group realizes So-i is the swindler Yul once helped.

• Jang Gang: He appears at Cheonbugwan, reflecting on his past mistakes with Jin Mu (not stopping him earlier, lying, etc.). He regrets not destroying the Soul Ejectors and sealing the Ice Stone properly.

Outside the Barrier

• Park Jin and others panic and strategize. Blame falls on Jinyowon.

• The Unanimous Assembly members scheme over the Ice Stone.

• The King remains fixated on the King’s Star (Uk).

• Maidservant Kim hopes Jang Gang returns amid the crisis.
