Alchemy of Souls – Season 1, Episode 20

Light & Romantic Openings

The episode begins on a lighter note with Park Jin and Maidservant Kim house-hunting. Kim confesses her feelings; after some misunderstandings (Jin thought she liked Master Lee), they finally start their relationship. Jang Uk announces his plan to marry Mu-deok and move to Sari Village. Mu-deok shares the happy news with Ju-wol. Dang-gu and Cho-yeon’s wedding proceeds amid family tensions.

Jin Mu’s Final Scheme

Jin Mu, cornered by the Crown Prince (who demands he confess his crimes), uses divination bells (linked to the Soul Ejector) to control Naksu/Mu-deok. He turns her into a rampaging assassin to expose Uk and regain power. Under the spell, Mu-deok kills (including Woo-tak) and goes on a violent spree targeting soul-shifters and others.

The Tragedy at the Wedding

At the wedding venue, chaos erupts as Jin Mu reveals “Naksu” is in Songrim. Mu-deok, controlled, attacks. Jang Uk protects her and is stabbed by her. He holds her gently as she snaps out of it, calling his name in horror. Uk collapses, seemingly dead. Mu-deok is devastated. Jin Mu frames her as the villain.

Aftermath & Cremation

• Songrim mourns Uk. Park Jin is heartbroken (he saw Uk as a son).

• Mu-deok flees in guilt and grief. She ends up at the soul-shifters’ grave.

• The Crown Prince and others believe Uk is gone. Jin Mu pushes for punishment of Songrim.

• Cho-yeon vows revenge on the assassin who killed her father.

Rebirth & The King’s Star

Master Lee hints the King’s Star isn’t finished. During Uk’s cremation, the Ice Stone’s power (inside him) activates. Blue flames rise, and Uk is reborn/revived in secret. Mu-deok is rescued (implied by allies) as the season ends on Uk’s determined face.

Closing Resolutions & Setup for Part 2

• Relationships: Park Jin & Kim solidify their bond. Yul recovers. Others process the losses.

• Jin Mu survives temporarily but is on the run or consolidating power.

• The world thinks Uk is dead (setting up his isolated hunter arc in Season 2).

• Mu-deok disappears, heartbroken and guilt-ridden.
